THE RIVER ZEI
1 July–15 August
ROSE ISSA PROJECTS
LONDON
LONDON. IN THIS solo show, Walid Siti exhibits a corpus of drawings and small-format sculptures that continue the theme of his current project at the “Wounded Water” exhibition in this year’s Pavillion of Iraq at the 54th Venice Biennale. The powerful imagery of Kurdistan’s landscape and its natural elements are recurrent features of Siti’s work, as they are constant presences in the everyday life of this region’s inhabitants. Here, the romantic image of the river as a supplier of the most fundamental element of life, which also connects people, raises a question about the impact of changes brought upon the landscape by climate, politics, conflicts, growth in population and rapid development in the region.

Walid Siti was born in Duhok, Iraqi Kurdistan, and works and lives in London. He has exhibited several times with Rose Issa Projects, including his solo show “Land on Fire” at Leighton House Museum (2008).
