What is the best thing about Berlin?

The possibilities… It is like a lottery, sometimes, after some time of quietness, you begin to play with some wonderful piles of great opportunities, if they show, of course… For sure, one should be very talented and good to survive here and earn his own living, but it is not only talent that it is needed, it is also good luck.
I am also grateful to meet some exceptional people, who are bringing new ideas and moving and expanding this city. This makes me feel good; this city is full of good energy. And there is so much to see, to do, to hear, or if one gets tired of all the action, an “escape”- though in the middle of the metropolis - in the most beautiful parks where one can immediately switch from the city to Mother Nature.

What are your favorite art museums, galleries and places of cultural interest?

New National Gallery, Martin-Gropius-Bau, Kupferstichkabinett, Hamburger Bahnhof, Museum for Photography- Helmut Newton Stiftung.

How would you pass a perfect day in Berlin?

I remember a perfect and colourful day. It was a Saturday, in the summer of 2010, my family and I went to Martin Gropius Bau to see the “Innen Stadt Aussen” a fantastic exhibition of one of my favorite contemporary artists, Olafur Eliasson. It was a catharsis, an incredible experience for all of us, as the saying goes “art transformes you.” My son was amazed as we were and he was just more than one year old. Maybe at another level but still… After the exhibition: good coffee, comments, talk, smiles and floating in the rush of reminiscent artistic images. Then going back home with bicycles along the river Spree, passing the magnolia park near the  Ministry of Interior Affairs, then turning right to Kirch Strasse. These little details make a day perfect, on condition that the sun is shinning…

Which are you favourite restaurants?

Maybe cafes? I prefer to sit in a café more than in a restaurant… I live in the Quarter of Moabit and the cafes are Coffee Mamas(a retro-like coffee bar) and Die Buchkantine (where you can take whatever book you want and read at your table and then when you find it impossible to leave it behind, you end up buying it… a very clever idea though).

What is the one thing you’d like to do in Berlin that you haven’t done?

There are so many… it is the second year for me here so I am at the very climax of the Iceberg…

What is your favourite view in Berlin?

Water, the river, the bridges, the balconies. The low, old, put in a perfect order buildings…

What are you currently working on?

Working on my graphic art, (I am dedicated to mezzotint), working in my studio and gallery, working with international artists, making bridges for the art of Graphics and just letting the River of Time flow.
