MANAMA. SIEPERT WORKS in the field of Photography and New Media Art. He uses an old camera and does not alter his photographs digitally in anyway. He photographs house at night as this is the time they become alive and also because he believes that houses tell so much about themselves and their inhabitants. Another field in Siepert's works are people he captures while they are eating. His latest project has been dedicated to Staged Photography. It has combined his body of work into a manipulated set-up. He is building on  experiences gained from his Series of Houses and series of People Eating.

Artist's Statement

"Situations have different meanings once a person leaves their common cultural circles. I would love to continue on my Series of Houses and Series of People Eating in the new context offered in Bahrain. I am seeking to start a dialogue with locals and I am convinced that their understanding of my work and vice versa will be enriching for both sides.

I am very keen on creating an exchange with local artists and art-enthusiasts knowing that this will influence my work, and direct my interests into a whole new potential of ideas based on an exchange in a culturally diverse environment. I have also learned that the gallery space shares a cafe area, which will equally engage me in observing an environment that serves both entertainment in the culinary sense, and the visual compliments of being surrounded by works of art in the gallery/cafe environment.

I am seeking, if production time permits, to produce an interactive installation. The installation will be based on the experiences I gain during my stay. The objective of my residency is to bring in a new point of view on the artistic environments offered by Bahrain, and to create something that is possible to share between my work and local artists in the area/neighborhood. I propose below three presentations and two workshops around the following topics"
