Ines A. Landmesser
Tomorrow is now
Ghaf Art Gallery - Abu Dhabi
5-15 December
Abu Dhabi. Ines  A. Landmesser’s explores individual and social aspects in her work.

Her life in Abu Dhabi and the fast changes in today’s world are reflected in a unique mixture of different themes. Urban life and changes in day to day business from the time she arrived in the Emirates(1989) concluded in the theme of “Tomorrow is now” - a reflection on busy life and impact of movement towards individual ‘open spaces’’. It is a journey showcasing open spaces, impressions of daily life and the meditative transparence of nature. Having seen the world on numerous travels she reflects her live in the Emirates in her very own perspective.

Finding a balance between open spaces for the individual and integration into society is an important part of her work.

Our retreat is family, friends and partners in life and the environment that we should treasure and take care of for future generations.

Each of us is a part of this experience featured in “The Abu Dhabi Code” - painting. The Abu Dhabi Code is the promise to keep the balance between humans and nature, using all available resources for a better future. It is the impression to be already part of tomorrow’s world. We can no longer wait for others or anything to change it for us.

Tomorrow is now - every single day.

Landmesser’s work includes oils, pastels and mixed media as well as painting on china and hand built pottery sculptures. She has developed a special layering technique that creates a rich texture and adds depths to her paintings. Her illustrations for children’s books are well known in the gulf region. She was teaching pottery, created, managed and worked on 2 big projects for the German School, and joined the Camel Caravan and Arabian Horse projects.
She has been commissioned to create paintings for corporate spaces by reputed companies and prestigious institutions, held several solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group exhibitions.
As a member of the Emirates Fine Arts Society, she was awarded a price for her paintings in 2001. In 2005 her work was chosen by the German Embassy to represent her country at the Sharjah Women’s Biennale.

The current exhibition will be held under the patronage of H.E. Klaus-Peter Brandes, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to the UAE.

About Bait Muzna Gallery
Nestled in the heart of this sparkling clean city, the Bait Muzna Gallery also has its own unique history. Originally the home of a member of the Oman Royal Family, this traditionally styled house was renovated for use as an art gallery in 1999, opening its doors in January, 2000. This renovation came about through the vision and dedication of Sayyida Susan Al Said, American-born wife of a nephew of the original owner, Sayyida Muzna bint Nadir.

Supporting Omani art and artists
Art is the soul of a culture and the Gallery recognizes that contemporary art is an essential indicator of the state and progress of a society. As Oman continues to develop and open up to international business and tourism, Omani art and artists are set to benefit from this increased exposure. A main goal of Bait Muzna Gallery is to provide an accessible and welcoming venue to showcase these talents. Cooperation with the Omani Fine arts Society has helped in making this possible.

Albareh Art Gallery
12 December - 2 January 2011

Manama. Albareh Art Gallery presents “Birds” a collective sculpture exhibition by a group of confirmed sculptors from Bahrain, the Middle East and around the world.

Curated by Hayfa AlJishi and Artist Ahmed Al Bahrani, This show will gather Major sculptors from Bahrain, Iraq, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, France, and Japan, to participate in this unique concept, which centers on the theme of Birds. This region has a lot of affinity to birds as they represent beauty, strength, nationality, freedom, movement, free spirit, as well as love, unity and family.

Birds’ vast representations and meanings offer a chance to create unusual sculptures and to capture the essence and beauty of nature. Each Artist will present two artworks; that varies between abstract, impressionist or symbolic, featuring the aesthetic aspects of the birds wither scattered, in motion or in groups. Nests, eggs, wings, the existing and the legendary ones, in different Sizes and forms, and in different mediums; stone, wood, Bronze, Steel, Plastic, etc...

About Jabbar Algadban

A fine arts graduate at the Damascus University, Syria in1981, he was not born painting in the style with which he is now associated with. Jabbar rejected the Impressionism he had initially embraced for a precise, stylised manner and dedicated himself to folklore – portraying and decorating the lives of Arab women.

The female figure, Jabbar’s ‘now’ celebrated icon, is itself a kind of allegory of art.
They suggest a powerful psychological undertow – a veneer of social realism. The
deceptively simple, semi-abstracted, doe-eyed women with long necks that are a little
too stiff – derive their power from the liberties that Jabbar has taken within the schema
of representation, and not from saving the human face as directly seen. In fact, Jabbar’s
temptation by allegory and his urge to make his extroverted icons’ secret dramatic narratives is the powerful modernist element in his otherwise regionalist art.

The simplified graphically conceived framed and firmly outlined objects in a Crayola-
bright palette are qualities that are quickly recognisable in all of his work.
MANAMA. Bahraini artist Jabbar Alghadban certainly knows how to capture an audience with his paintings of beautiful women. Jabbar's women are melancholic and mysterious with a powerful physical intensity and a subtleness of form which almost makes you want to hold them.

The graceful lines express feelings, memories and deep emotion by means of the positions and expressions of the figures. His paintings are about feelings and states of mood, about dreams and expectations. In every work he tries to capture part of the mystery of the female personality by combining the beauty of the physical with the intensity of the mental. His contemporary style to pose, composition and colour produces paintings that are modern, vibrant and uniquely individual.
