MANAMA. THE FIRST exhibition of its kind in the Gulf, ‘Convex: A New Perspective,’ celebrating the recent works of Bahraini artist Shaikh Rashid Bin Khalifa Al Khalifa at the Bahrain National Museum, wrapped up on November 14. The highly successful temporary exhibition has been running since April and has drawn art notables from Europe, the Middle East and USA to the kingdom.
And, to mark the end of the exhibition, Canvas Magazine’s managing director, Ali Kadra has organised a very exclusive three-day art junket ‘Artistic Bahrain 3.’ It was the third of its series and was all about bridging the art world with Bahrain.
Art-worlders from London, Beirut, Zurich and New York embarked on a serious investigation of Convex: A new perspective last November 8. The show, self-curated and the exhibition space self-designed by the artist himself enhanced the experience of his artworks dynamism and offered fresh perspectives for a shared global future.
For a glimpse of the kingdom's art scene, the guests were taken to Beit Al Quran, Albareh and Al Riwaq galleries, La Fontaine Art Centre, Shaikh Ebrahim Centre, Bin Matar House, Shaikh Rashid’s studio and Sotheby’s “Harouf” preview at The Khayma, the Ritz Carlton Spa Hotel.
‘Convex: A New Perspective’ has set new standards in art exhibitions. According to a guest, "it will be difficult to view other exhibitions without this sense of dynamism." The end of Convex: A New Perspective is just the beginning of a new epoch in art in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
