ARCO MADRID 2011
Mar
http://www.vernissage.tv | Under the new director of the art fair, Carlos Urroz, ARCO in Madrid has become smaller, some say more focused. The number of galleries and side projects has been reduced. In addition to the general programme, the fair features ARCO 40 (galleries presenting a maximum of 3 artists), and curated programmes: Focus Russia, a selection of Russian contemporary art galleries and collectors curated by Daria Pyrkina; Solo Projects, one-person projects selected by a team of international curators; and Opening, a selection of European galleries under eight years old, curated by Maribel López. This video provides some impressions from the first of the professional days.

Thomas Muellenbach's reinterpreted invitations
http://www.vernissage.tv | Halboriginal is the title of a two weeks special project at Rotwand Gallery in Zürich. Since 2005 Swiss artist Thomas Müllenbach has collected every flyer and exhibition invitation that has been sent to him. Then he has reinterpreted these invitations in watercolors. The gallery Rotwand is now showcasing a group of over 400 of these watercolors. Among them are invitations for exhibitions with artists such as Albrecht Dürer, General Idea, Sigmar Polke, Jasper Johns, Dawn Mellor, and many others.
