GITTA PARDOEL is an artist and teacher at the art academy in Tilburg in Holland. She began as an architect before shewas trained as an artist. For several years she worked in parallel with the architecture and art before she completely went over to the art.
- I have brought with me a bit of architecture in the creation of my landscape installations, but I do not miss my former profession. In Holland, they are only interested to repeat, I want to create new, works for all senses not only vision."says Gitta Pardoel who is in Falun to hang the show.
Interest in planning, cities and specific locations have yet complied in her art. With photos, paper and carved codes that refer to various places she builds her own worlds. Most interested she is in the air, communication between things, people's need for space is a recurring theme.
In Falun, she shows both paper collage in mixed media, and lambda prints in multiple layers on aluminum. Pardoel mastered both techniques fully, but works in aluminum steals the attention. The material with its perceived emphasis is working with the raw landscape motifs and underlines the theme. Cecilia Ekebjär
