IN FEBRUARY 2009, four Bahrain-based artists traveled to Kerala, India for an intensely creative artistic adventure. For seven days, they drew and painted "en plein air" from the lively harbour and markets of Fort Cochin to the peaceful backwaters in Allepey to the warm sand of Cherrai Beach. The results of their efforts will were on display at Albareh Art Gallery.

Inspired by the sights, sounds, colors and textures of India, each artist
responded to the rich environment in her own voice and medium. They returned to their studios in Bahrain with hundreds of sketches, preliminary studies, and photographs and set to work in their very different ways.

The exhibition captured the artists'
sense of place, their shared experience and their different interpretations of it.
