MANAMA. THE HIGHLY awaited annual fine arts exhibition returns this year opening on 10 January at the Bahrain National Museum.
Under the patronage of His Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain, the
participation and response to this annual exhibit has remained strong and represents one of the longest running juried exhibitions in
the Arabian Gulf region.
Now in its 38th year, the show is a demonstration of the Ministry of Culture and Bahraini artists’ commitment to make a positive
statement that artistic activity is alive and vibrant in the country. This exhibition continues the tradition of showcasing work by both
emerging and established artists, and many, through their participation have gained recognition.
This year’s prestigious Al Dana Prize will be presented at the exhibition’s opening and will go to the artist whose visual interpretation
is relevant to this year’s theme, “Woman.”
The juried show includes a wide selection of art available for viewing and/or purchase in media including painting, sculpture, and
installation offering visitors an unrivalled opportunity to purchase original artwork by established and up-and-coming Bahraini artists.
Running concurrent with the 38th Annual Fine Arts Exhibition at the Bahrain National Museum, is the Jordanian artists show in
collaboration with the Royal Society of Fine Arts, part of Bahrain’s celebration of Manama - Capital of Arab Culture in 2012.
