The Armory Show 2011
Apr
http://www.vernissage.tv | There’s a lot of neon, LED and mirrors at The Armory Show 2011. Master of the light is Iván Navarro, who put up a site-specific installation at the booth of Paul Kasmin Gallery. Titled “The Armory Fence”, the work forms an ornamental fence that prevents the viewers from entering the 24 x 36 foot space. It’s not the only work by Iván Navarro that can be seen at The Armory Show (and at ARCO Madrid he had several appearances, too). In this video you will also encounter works by Olafur Eliasson, Nick Cave, Jonathan Meese, Leandro Erlich, Tony Cragg, Jon Kessler, Wim Delvoye, among many others.

Independent New York Art Fair 2011
http://www.vernissage.tv | No, art fairs are not dead, on the contrary. There are a lot of art fairs that are running concurrently with The Armory Show in New York. One of them is Independent, the “temporary exhibition forum”. The second edition of Independent takes place in the former DIA Center for the Arts. Over 40 contemporary art galleries are participating in the fair, mainly from New York, Paris, Berlin, London, and Los Angeles. Independent was conceived by Elizabeth Dee (Elizabeth Dee Gallery, New York) and Darren Flook (Hotel Gallery, London). The 2011 edition of Independent was developed in conjunction with creative advisor Matthew Higgs (White Columns, New York) and co-directors Jayne Drost and Laura Mitterand.

Fountain Art Fair New York 2011
http://www.vernissage.tv | This video takes you on a boat: the salvaged lightship The Frying Pan at Pier 66 Maritime in New York. That’s where the organizers of Fountain Art Fair chose to stage the 2011 edition of their art fair. It’s the sixth edition of the fair in New York. Fountain also has held exhibitions in Miami and Chicago. In New York, Fountain presents 20 galleries and projects. Here are some impressions of the Opening Night Reception on March 4, 2011.
