November 2010
AL RIWAQ Art Space, a leading light in Bahrain’s art and culture scene opened the doors of its new café, Al Riwaq Café within the Gallery as part of its re-launch celebrations on Sunday, 17 October 2010.  The Al Riwaq Café will provide young talented artists and the public with a platform to exchange ideas, provoke intellectual debate, promote, inspire and develop creative thinking and generally nurture culture.

Moving beyond art and culture, the Café will offer the Bahrain community an exclusive venue to meet and relax. The Café will provide guests with the highest quality food and service at reasonable prices while enjoying the art on display.

Strategically located in Adliya, a bohemian neighborhood of Manama city, the Café has been designed entirely by talented artists and will be a meeting point for anyone interested in enjoying  healthy organic meal while being surrounded by art. Cafe visitors will be immersed by doodle art that takes over the interior walls of the Cafe. The Al Riwaq Cafe will be dedicated to monthly gatherings and special events such as artist talks, debates and book signings. Positioned in the center of the social scene in Adliya, Al Riwaq Cafe is easily accessible to the general public. A spiral staircase connects the Cafe to a unique collection of artist and children's books available in the bookstore. Each month Al Riwaq Art Space will display the "painting of the month" at the Cafe, giving great exposure to the selected artists.

Al Riwaq Art Space was founded in 1998 with a vision to promote creativity and art value by nurturing a strong relationship between art and society through its programs. In order to encourage public awareness and appreciation of visual arts, Al Riwaq hosts local and international group exhibitions, workshops, talks and debates, film screenings and meetings for the art communities and patrons.
