Mounirah Mosly
Solo Exhibition

Al Sabiya, Enlightens your night Iraq

Albareh Art Gallery  - Bahrain
9 - 27 February
ALBAREH ART Gallery presents “Al Sabiya; Enlightens your Night, Iraq” a solo exhibition by Saudi Artist Mounirah Mosly.

Art is the outcome which reflects expressions, attitudes and feelings of the artist and what surrounds and interacts with him in everyday life, so this exhibition continues the artistic journey and the path Mosly have chosen to show her humanitarian beliefs and creative vision about what’s happening around us.

Mosly believes she belongs to all civilizations, all races, all arts, and all times; where her every day stopover, whenever she is overwhelmed by feelings of loneliness. She is in an eternal estrangement, and in a continuous search, the painting is her world and through it she sees life and the borders of it as her space of freedom.  She is fond of what is under the soil and beneath the pores.  Her details are question marks that are never answered.  She quoted "I was born and will die with them, too".

In this collection, Mosly drowned, graved, weaved and painted in love, and she is writing her testimony about Iraq, a country that brought the Babylonian, the Sumerian, and the Era of the Abbasid. According to her “My testimony today is the birth of a new artistic memory for a more modern Iraq”. What you will see in this exhibition is an honest recognition of Mosly’s passion and her way of expressing her emotions of anger, sadness and love towards a country as Iraq.

The exhibition will be accompanied by a diverse cultural program starting with two Cultural Sessions conducted by Farouq Yousef and Omaima Al Khamis, followed by a Theatrical Act by Sobhy Yousef, and finally a Children’s Art Workshop, attached a copy for your reference.
Childhood in our Arab countries have been damaged and scratched with all the unpleasant events; the continuous wars, the deaths, the immigrations, the occupations, and the hostility that we live in now a days, their young souls are forbidden to live a normal and healthy childhood; to go to schools, play with their friends, draw and color, and just enjoy being kids.

I have been asked to write my artistic testimony, and what shall I say? I have been brought to love and honor my homeland with my first alphabets and was raised as a patriot before I was an artist!

My testimony here is drowned, graved, weaved and painted in love for this exhibition. Where I recovered old memories that I thought it was lost and forgotten and mixed it with my new ones, to present to you this collection. Some might say that this recognition came very late, but as you all may know that all the obstructed labours don’t really follow the rules! My testimony today is the birth of a new artistic memory for a more modern Iraq!  One that urged me to dig deep into a thorough and comprehensive research on this great country and what it brought to us from ; philosophies in eternity, love, death, life, and giving in all its values and meanings, and as a result I became attached to it and I adored this delayed obstructed labour!

What you will see here in these series of artworks is an honest declaration of my passion to this country and a great catharsis of my deep anger and sadness towards all the great countries that were turned into ashes, and the young children who were buried alive such as Eman Hajjo, Mohammad Al Durra, and Abeer Al Janabi among thousands of others…

I hope that you will enjoy this collection with an objective and abstract observation, may this help me through to bear the forthcoming pain and the burdens of a new passion!
